Re-connecting your Instagram account
Hey, it looks like you need to reconnect your Instagram account with us. This step-by-step guide will help you solve your issue.
What you’ll need
- Your device with the Social Soup app installed
- A PC or tablet with an Internet browser such as Chrome
- Your Instagram account login details

5 – 10 minutes.
What will be fixed
If our app isn’t picking up your posts, reconnecting with us will ensure a “fresh” connection and allow us to pick up your posts. This is common with private accounts, consider setting your account to public for the duration of the project to avoid any further issues.
Grab a cuppa or glass of wine, it’s time to fix your Instagram connection!
Using your computer or tablets web browser, head over to https://www.instagram.com/.
Next, head over to your profile page by clicking on the top right “person icon”.
You will now be on your profile page.
Click on the “circle/gear icon thingy” to the right of the “Edit profile” button.
This will bring up a menu with a bunch of options.
Click on “Authorised apps”.
This will bring up a list of all of the third-party apps that you have authorised to access your account, including Social Soup.
Locate the “Social Soup Connector” app on the page and click on “Revoke access”.
Confirm by clicking “Yes” on the pop up that appears.
You are now all finished with your desktop/tablet computer. Time to open the Social Soup app on your device.
Bring up the side menu by tapping on the icon in the top right of the screen.
The side menu will now appear.
Tap on “Social Connectors”.
This will bring up your Social connections page.
Tap on the Instagram icon.
You will now see the account that is currently connected to Social Soup.
Tap on “Disconnect”
You will then be left with no account connected.
Before you tap on “Connect Instagram”, it is worth checking that you are logged in to the Instagram account you wish to use.
To do this, open up a new tab in your browser and head over to www.instagram.com. Remember to do this in your internet browser, not the Instagram app.
Once you’re in the correct account, tap on “Connect Instagram”.
You may need to login to your account.
You will then be presented with a screen asking you to authorise our app.
Tap on “Authorise”. As a reminder, this does not let us perform any actions on your behalf, it simply allows us to view your posts and therefore credit you for posting project photos.
You will be returned to the connection screen.
That’s it! You can now return to the Social Soup app and share your moments.
If you’ve already posted to Instagram, open your sharing mission and tap on the “Refresh” button.
